Interview structures vary by team and level, but when meeting us you can normally expect...

  • An exploratory call with a member of our Global TA team to explore your background, discuss the role and understand SOPHiA GENETICS.
  • A meeting with your potential new manager to talk about your achievements and skills.
  • A conversation with peers and key stakeholders to align on collaboration and team-add.
  • Some hires also feature a presentation or technical task to demonstrate your niche skillset.
  • Senior and Leadership roles include a meeting with the Head of Department or Executive Team.

To be agile and sustainable we utilise video interviews throughout the process, allowing you to connect with international stakeholders and hiring teams easily.

We use MS Teams for these, so make sure you have an account set up, your connection ready and all your tech working.

We know it's important to meet in person and see your working space, so where suitable we will invite you to one of our offices as we progress. 

We can easily accommodate alternative arrangements for accessibility, so if you need our help to be set for success just ask!

We value the importance of your time and hopefully, you appreciate ours too. Here are some top tips for you to make the most out of your meeting and be best set for success...

  • Take the time to research SOPHiA GENETICS. A few minutes on our corporate website should give you high-level overview, and why not check out a recent press release?
  • Individuals who demonstrate an interest and that take the time to dive deeper into understanding our organisation typically do well. You can find links to all the resources you need at the bottom of this page.
  • Check out who you're meeting. You can find out about our Leadership Team here and most of our SOPHiAN's are on LinkedIn - It's a small world, so you might find you have mutual connections!
  • Our interviews are experience-based, and are about getting to know you so bring your true self to the meeting. It's worthwhile planning how you describe yourself, your experience and your passion.

We will be sharing some valuable insights about the role and team when we meet, so feel free to bring a notebook to collect your own notes.

Plan questions to bring to the meeting too. This is a two-way conversation, so think about what you want to know from us as an organisation. It's a great opportunity to build your own insight and get the detail you need to make an informed decision, whilst demonstrating your passion.

We have a business-casual work environment where our fellow SOPHiANS dress for their day.

For some teams, that's a shirt and blazer as they head off to meet customers and for others, it's cargo trousers and a hoodie as they work their magic on the back-end of our platform.

If you're meeting us for an interview, you don't need to come fully suited (or you might stand out a little!) but we do recommend dressing slightly smarter than usual.

  • For an in-person meeting, we would suggest slacks or trousers and a smart button-down or blouse.
  • For virtual interviews, you can be more relaxed (but don't forget to check your background!)

We rebuilt our onboarding journey to ensure your path to becoming a SOPHiAN is the best it can be, and you're set for success from day one.

  • Once you have accepted an offer, you will be supported by our Global HR Operations team to collect all your documentation, share your onboarding playbook and provide your equipment.
  • New SOPHiANs join us in cohorts twice a month, so you never feel alone in your first few days.
  • All new also SOPHiANs get a buddy, a friendly contact to guide you as you navigate your way.
  • Your first days will be prepared and structured for you to meet your manager & team, gain insight into the organisation (including meeting our CEO, Jurgi) and set up all your equipment and profiles.

Relentless curiosity is engrained in our DNA and we love to ask questions, so we encourage you to ask them right from the start!
