We are trying to achieve something serious, but we do not take ourselves too seriously on the journey. It's important for us that everyone has the ability to bring their whole, authentic self to work.
There’s always a place for fearlessly adventurous and relentlessly curious professionals like you on our team, no matter what your background is.
When you meet us throughout the interview and hiring journey, we are not only looking to see how you would fit in here, but also giving you the opportunity to see how we match your values... but what does that journey look like?
We hope you are as excited to meet us, as we are you!
Like the strands of DNA itself, SOPHiA GENETICS and the team are deeply interconnected and reliant on each other to deliver. There are common threads across the team. Things that bind us together.
We chip away at these big, audacious problems with our unique perspectives, open-ended tasks and our constant zest for learning. Doctors rely on our data to help their patients, so we work fast, seize opportunities when they come, and take charge!
“We are proud of the science we do. If you are looking for something that is intellectually entertaining, the working environment is great.” - Zhenyu (Current Employee)
We value the importance of your time and hopefully, you appreciate ours too. Here are some top tips for you to make the most out of your meeting and be best set for success...
Take the time to research SOPHiA GENETICS. A few minutes on our corporate website should give you high-level overview, and why not check out a recent press release? Individuals who demonstrate an interest and that take the time to dive deeper into understanding our organisation typically do well. You can find links to all the resources you need at the bottom of this page.
Check out who you're meeting. You can find out about our Leadership Team here and most of our SOPHiAN's are on LinkedIn - It's a small world, so you might find you have mutual connections!
Our interviews are less competency-based, and are more about getting to know you so please bring your true self to the meeting. It's worthwhile planning how you describe yourself, your experience and your passions.
Plan your own questions for us. This is a two-way conversation, so think about what you want to know from us as an organisation. It's a great opportunity to build your own insight, whilst also demonstrating your passion.
You'll find links to valuable resources at the bottom of this page to start with your research and learning about SOPHiA GENETICS.
Callum Buxton - Lead Partner, Global Talent Acquisition
We have a steadfast vision, we challenge ourselves every step of the way, and we're future-focused. We're builders, problem solvers, and doers who don't give up until we find the right code, the right conversation, the right collaboration, and the right connection to improve patient outcomes all around the world.
“SOPHiA wants you to grow and to take more initiative, and especially the fact that we are being heard when we have some concern, when we also have ideas, we know the top executive team is going to listen, is going to be open to our initiative and it's something I value a lot.” - (William) Current Employee
We have a business-casual work environment where our fellow SOPHiANS dress for their day. For some teams, that's a shirt and blazer as they head off to meet customers and for others, it's cargo trousers and a hoodie as they work their magic on the back-end of our platform.
Meeting us for an interview? You don't need to come fully suited (or you might stand out a little!) but we do recommend dressing slightly smarter than usual.
For an in-person meeting, we would suggest slacks or trousers and a smart button-down or blouse.
For virtual interviews, you can be more relaxed (but don't forget to check your background!)
Kevin Puylaert - MD Sales, EMEA
At the end of the day, we climb because of our our neighbors, our peers, and our family, who rely on us to develop technology for the many, not the few, during a time when they need us to help with their medical challenges and personal triumphs. We're working with advanced tech to reach this mission, and we are driven to innovate and challenge ourselves but be practical and thoughtful with our choices.
“We're the only global tech platform with multiple data sets to treat patients. We're in a unique position where we're growing at the right time.” - (Phillippe) Current Employee
Our hiring journey varies by business unit, level & responsibility, but what you can normally expect when meeting us is...
An exploratory meeting with a member of our Global Talent Acquisition team to understand your background, discuss the role and explore SOPHiA GENETICS.
A formal interview with the Hiring Manager to explore alignment with the role.
A conversation with peers to ensure a match on team fit and with key stakeholders to align on objectives and collaboration needs.
For more senior roles, you may also meet with the Head of the Department or a member of our Executive Team.
Some hires may also feature an assessment, presentation or technical task to demonstrate competency and ability in your niche skillset.
To be agile, adaptable and sustainable we utilise video interviews throughout our process. We also know it's important to give you the opportunity to meet us face to face and see the working environment, so where possible we will invite you to one of our offices as we progress.
Ross Muken - Chief Operating & Financial Officer
