Our Discovery Interns
Choosing a career isn't always easy. Before deciding what to study or what direction to take, many students simply want to answer one question:
"What is it actually like to work there?"
That's exactly why we created our Discovery Internship Program.
Unlike our university internship program, this experience is designed for school students who are still exploring different career paths. Instead of working on one project, they spend time with different teams, ask questions, observe everyday work, and discover what happens behind the scenes at SOPHiA GENETICS.
This month, we were happy to welcome Naveen, Devan, and Aurélien. Each of them followed a program built around their own interests.
Naveen spent time in our laboratories, discovering how our Quality Control and Quality Assurance teams help ensure the highest standards every day.
Aurélien explored the world of Implementation scientists, learning how ideas become products and seeing first-hand how our engineers work together to solve complex problems.
Devan divided his time between Marketing and Finance, gaining a better understanding of how we communicate our mission and how the business operates behind the scenes.
The best part? Hearing what they think.
"My experience at SOPHiA GENETICS was amazing. I could understand what it means to be in Sales, and how complex the work is in reality. Even if was short, really help me understand how that world works better.
"Seeing the teams work together made everything much more real. It helped me understand what these jobs actually look like beyond what you learn at school."
"The experience confirmed some ideas I already had... and completely changed others. I left with a much clearer picture of what I enjoy."
We hope every student leaves with something valuable: discovering a passion they didn't know they had, confirming the path they want to follow, or simply feeling more confident about the future.
Who knows? Maybe we'll meet them again in a few years - this time as interns, graduates, or future colleagues.
