What's your background, Boris?
I have built my career as an HR professional within international technology companies, where I developed a 360° vision of the HR function. Over the years, I have gained extensive experience in the HR Business Partner role, supporting brillant leaders, driving organisational change, and aligning people strategy with business objectives. Working in fast-paced, global environments has given me a deep understanding of what it takes to attract, develop, and retain top talent across diverse cultures and geographies.
This breadth of experience, combined with a genuine to help people and team succeed, is what I bring to SOPHiA GENETICS every day. .
Can you tell us about your move to Bidart, and why you did it?
Joining SOPHiA GENETICS was first a professional decision. I wanted to work for a company with a mission that genuinely impacts society. When I discovered SOPHiA, I was immediately convinced by its purpose and by the quality of the people I met during the interviews. Relocating with three children required careful planning: schools, housing, and my wife's career were all part of the equation. During my trial period, we took a family trip to the region and decided to settle in Bayonne, a perfect base, with easy access to Biarritz Airport and the train station for my wife's trips to Paris.
It was a significant move, but one we approached with confidence and have never regretted.
How do you feel now you are here?
Settling into life in the Basque Country has been a wonderful experience. The region has a very distinctive identity — a unique blend of French and Basque culture, outstanding food, a beautiful coastline, and a warm, welcoming community. We renovated our home, which gave us a real sense of putting down roots, and we have made close friends both locally and through the SOPHiA community. What strikes me most is the balance this place offers: you can be highly ambitious professionally while genuinely enjoying your personal life. The outdoors, the ocean, the mountains — it is all on your doorstep. For a family, it is hard to imagine a better environment in which to grow and thrive.
And your journey with SOPHiA? What are you doing now?
Today I serve as France HRD and HRBP for R&D at SOPHiA GENETICS. My professional compass is driven by a genuine desire to help every employee succeed by leveraging their personal strengths and natural talents. Since joining, I have worked on meaningful initiatives — shaping the people strategy for our R&D organisation, supporting teams through growth and transformation, and helping build a culture where high performance and human values coexist. I was honoured to receive recognition at our company Kick-Off, a moment that reinforced why this work matters.
SOPHiA is a place where the mission is real, the people are exceptional, and every day brings a genuine opportunity to make a positive difference, both for colleagues and, ultimately, for patients around the world.
What would you tell someone thinking about SOPHiA?
Leaving Paris was not such a crazy idea after all.
