At SOPHiA GENETICS, we know that talent is everywhere, but opportunity doesn’t always follow at the same pace. That’s especially true when it comes to women in leadership. Across the biotech and tech industries, women are still underrepresented at senior levels. While many teams are close to gender-balanced overall, leadership roles often tell a different story. Globally, women hold around one third of leadership positions in biotech, and far fewer at executive or board level. Progress is happening, but it’s slow.
Over the past year, the Women’s Leadership Club continued to be a space for honest conversations, shared experiences, and mutual support among senior leaders across the company. Meeting monthly, the group came together to step back from day-to-day work and reflect on the challenges, the trade-offs, and what leadership really looks like. Each session was led by a member of the group, bringing a topic shaped by real experiences and current questions.
In 2025, discussions focused on:
-
How leadership expectations are evolving and what new competencies are needed today
-
Learning to say “yes” with intention, and “no” without guilt
-
Navigating leadership while being a parent
-
Sharing perspectives from women leaders across different regions and cultures
-
Building confidence and resilience over the long term
The Women’s Leadership Club plays an important role in supporting this progress by creating space for reflection, connection, and by strengthening women’s voice and visibility in leadership. And we’re committed to going further: continuing to strengthen representation, open doors, and grow the number of women in leadership over time.
