We recently had the pleasure of welcoming 45 students from different universities and academic backgrounds to our headquarters in Rolle for SOPHiA GENETICS Open Doors 2026, organized together with BSNL Lausanne and PharmaCamp. It was a wonderful afternoon filled with curiosity, interesting conversations, and plenty of questions!
Meeting the People Behind Our Technology
Throughout the afternoon, our colleagues introduced students to SOPHiA GENETICS, the science behind the SOPHiA DDM™ Platform, and the work happening across our different departments.
Our speakers also shared their personal career journeys, giving students a glimpse into what working in the industry looks like and the different paths that can lead there. We loved seeing how engaged everyone was! Students asked questions throughout the presentations, from technical topics around bioinformatics and AI to career opportunities and everyday life at SOPHiA GENETICS.
A Look Behind the Scenes 🔬
One of the highlights was our guided lab tours, where students explored our facilities, met colleagues working in the laboratories, and discovered more about what happens behind the scenes.
We also put everyone's knowledge to the test with an interactive quiz! And this time, we had a rather special prize: the three winners earned an invitation to lunch with our VP of Genomic Research!
An opportunity to sit down together, ask questions, exchange ideas, and have a face-to-face conversation with someone working at the forefront of genomic research. Congratulations to our winners!
We wrapped up the afternoon with pizza, drinks, and networking, giving students the chance to connect with colleagues from different SOPHiA GENETICS departments, hear about their experiences, and explore different career paths.
A big thank you to BSNL Lausanne and PharmaCamp for their collaboration, and to all our SOPHiA GENETICS speakers and colleagues who shared their time, knowledge, and enthusiasm with our visitors.
And, of course, thank you to all the students who joined us! It was lovely to meet so many curious and enthusiastic people, hear your questions, and see your interest in what we do.
